College Tip 102: “Don’t Forget About Your…”

Do not, and I repeat, do not forget about your family when you move away to school! Take 30 seconds, grab your phone out of your pocket, and shoot them a reassuring text or “Snapchat” photo (personal favorite)! This simple task will brighten your loved ones day, every day. But if you are like me and find out that your sibling is enlisting into the Army, take the time to let him/her know how much you love him/her! A simple card or self-made poem will suffice, just as long as you make it personal!

“Before you begin your new chapter in life, I would like to say a few (hundred) words…”

A new journey is before you
And with that comes uncertainty
Just remember, I am two-steps behind you
Preparing for any adversity.

19 years have passed
With memories that will never fade
Wow, the time really has gone by fast
Can we rewind a decade?

I can’t thank you enough
For always being there for me
Through the good times and the tough
You are the Best Big Brother a Brother could be.

We’ve laughed, we’ve cried
We’ve even had karaoke sessions in your car
But most of all, we’ve tried
To stay so close, after being so far.

The Bond we’ve made
Is unlike any other
The Bond we’ve made is irreplaceable
And I am so PROUD to call you my Brother!
